在很久很久以前，有四个小孩子，他们是：
薇兰、史林白，盖伊和赖内。

有一次，他们真的买来艘大船准备环游世界，然后走陆路从另一条线路回来。
他们的船儿是蓝色的，带绿点儿；船帆是黄色的，画着红条条。
他们远航的时候，带了只小猫咪上船，猫咪不但负责掌舵，还料理船上的杂务。
船上还有个老怪兽，名叫“狂怪王”
，负责做饭煮茶；他们还带了把大水壶上船。

煮成美味；鱼骨头呢，就留给小猫咪吃了，她吃得挺满意。
一路上，大伙儿可开心了。

而猫咪和“狂怪王”
则照看着船。

没过多久，他们望见了远方的陆地。
驶近后一看，原来是座小岛，岛中央全是水，四周被陆地环绕着。
小岛和一些向外延伸并逐渐消失的峡谷接壤，每条峡谷都有一股巨大的水流从中间穿越而过。
这景象真的太美了。
岛中央还孤零零地耸起一棵树，足有503英尺高。
他们登上岛，四处望，岛上居然啥都没有，除了遍地的牛肉饼和巧克力糖块。
他们又爬上那棵孤零零的大树，想看看有没有人，可他们在树顶待了一星期，连个人影都没见着。
因此他们断定此地没有居民。
于是他们下了树，拾起成千上万的牛肉饼和巧克力糖块，装了满满一船。
